Help Wanted for IRC

I'm currently trying to set up an IRC chatroom for Pokemon Dream. I've actually done this many times, but never really got the hang on it. Furthermore, every username and room I every created died off due to inactivity.

Thus, for this new chatroom, I'd like some experienced people to help me out. I am still shaky with the whole concept of IRC, such as how to officially register a username, register a room, how to change the description, and other stuff...

If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

To have an IRC Chatroom, you would need to have your own Server. And also, setting up Room is easy. Although, if no one visits it, it'll die and it's getting deleted. So, you will need to create a permanent room or a Bot to stay in a room. So the room wouldn't be removed and the Bot can handle any spam appearing.

Hmm, can you give me some more details please? I've always wondered what those bots are for. And, is it really necessary to have a server? I was able to set up a chat room through an IRC network, without any dedicated server of my own.

As old as this thread is I thought I'd offer my help if you'd still like it.
I know my way around IRC well enough to help you set up a channel, and no you don't need your own server, there are thousands of pre-set up IRC servers with plenty of space to use.
