I don't know what alot of peoples problem is (not people here just in general, you guys rock) , but I'm straight and I have lots of gay friends, and there the best people to talk to when you have a problem.

Cuz marriage in the classical sense is a religious ceremony which is why it's performed by priests and ministers and whatnot. I can understand why many people who take their religion seriously wouldn't want to see their sacred sacriment interpreted to allow such a thing from happening, even if they are tolerant of gays. My personal opinion has always been "if you're against gay marriage, don't marry a gay."

Gay people, my suggestion is to invent your own alternative to marriage complete with it's own traditions and terminology and write to your congressman or whoever to get it legalized. Just leave the straight and religiously uptight with this word "marriage". It's kind of a big deal to most of us.

Aside from that, this is America; Half of all marriages fail anyway and lots of them are, as tradition would have it, marriages of convenience and not love.

It still boggles me that there are still people out there that want to frown and do other such things on homosexuality, or even bisexuals. Yes, it may be because in thier bible or whatever, it's said that it is wrong and people who partake in actions like that are going to hell or whatever other punishment lies after death, or because they just think its wrong/disgusting.

To all those religious freaks out there, wake up. Just because you believe in something doesn't mean that everyone else does, and I'm sure no one appriciates you forcing your personal opinion onto them. Loving someone, no matter what gender they are, isn't a sin; it's still love.
And to everyone else that dislikes people that are homosexual or bisexual just because they think its gross, grow up. With as long as it has been around, you'd think people would wake up and realize that is isn't something they can wipe out or get rid of. People can ignore it all they want, and shelter their children from it as well, but sooner or later they'll have to deal with it. And I think its really stupid that a girl or a boy has to hide it from their parents if they are gay, because their parents will disown them, kick them out of the house, or send them to a psychologist. How a parent cannot be understanding and accepting of their own children is beyond me. Its disgusting, and all those people should have no right to call themselves a parent.

They chose that as an alternative [originally intended to be less offensive] to the older derogatory term, queer. True, it's ironic how now the term 'gay' has become a derogatory itself. People have to understand that it isn't a synonym for crappy either.

Nothing wrong with it at all, and i find it disgusting how some people will harass homo/bi/tran/sexual people. Since when is it ok to judge others based on who the choose to LOVE?

Yet, I can still see how some of the uptight religious people would like to keep the word "marriage" all nice and traditional. I can't say I agree with their stinginess, but if they're going to refuse to adapt to the changes around them, Civil Unions should still remain an option for every couple

Well... being the Semi-Christian that I am, I've always looked at it like homosexuality is a sin, but it's no bigger than say, drinking, or premarital sex, or even marital sex really... well, i'm alright with homosexuality. one of my very good friends is gay (i think). i also use gay as an insult. let's say someone ticks me off, i say things like "you're gay!". Even though the really meaning of gay is "happy".
