Do your parents/siblings make fun of you or say you're sad for still liking Pokémon?

I'm nearly 17 and I really want an Eevee plushie for my birthday...'cos it's cute and I'm a girl and it all make sense.

But my mom always tells me off, saying I'm acting like a child if I still like Pokémon....blah blah....college soon...and bills and blah blah BLAH!

my parents don't really care, but my brother thinks its stupid that I still like it. I don't give a damn what anybody says though

My mom thinks its good that I'm into something fun like pokemon, and not something stupid like drugs. But my cousin, whom is always at my house, thinks I am stupid for still liking it. I'm 14 and will love it for a while to come!

I think what they see is the commercials that feature kids around 8-12, and the TV show. Those things are most apparent for people. They see (no offense if someone likes the show) a juvenile show, and that's all they take Pokemon to be. And that's what the show is. A kid's show. It doesn't even have that much in common with the games. I'm sure if they would sit down and play the games like they would any other games, like Halo or The Sims, they would see that it is really a good game. Good gameplay, kinda good story (I think they should have expanded on it, btw), and great replay value.

I, for one, do try to hide my liking Pokemon at school. And I'm okay with that. I go to a small school, and am already sort of ostracized from the rest of the school anyway, so if I show anything that would be considered, "childish" I would get harassed by the entire school, and that would suck. Plus, it's just a game anyway. I don't go around school telling people how much I play Halo, or Unreal Tournament, or Star Wars. Games are just recreation anyway, and have no effect on my personal life.

Yeah. The only people who know that I like pokemon are my family and very best-friends. I'm not ashamed of it, I just have a popular reputation at school. If I told people that I liked pokemon, it would be in the school newspaper. People would be teasing me all the time.

I just stopped caring what people thought if they found out at school. I'd be like 'So, at least I ain't gettin drunk or doin drugs, and won't end up some bum on the street cause of it.'

Of course, high school for me ended two years ago, but even still. People ask, I say "Yeah, so? You gotta problem with it then stop talking to me." That usually shuts them up

I wish I could tell people without being teased. I know this one boy, he loves pokemon, but I can't talk to him about it. I was so close to being able to talk to him once, but my friend asked me what I was doing talking to a dork. And he wasn't a dork. He's actually really nice. But you all have given me confidence! I'm 12. I'm still in the acceptable age range, and a number of kids at school like it or have recently like it, so I'm just about safe from the taunts.

I'm on my 8th grade and people keep telling me about: "ZOMG! You still like pokemon!" or such. But guess what? SOME of them also play pokemon

Aww, poor lil guy... That's usually how it goes; Nice guy, likes something others don't, and he's treated badly. Weeeelll.....if they're your real friends, they won't care what you like. They'd just nod and move on.
