Are ghosts real? Are they lost spirits or individual divine beings? Why do they haunt people (if they do)? Do poltergeists simply exist, or are they mischievous for some reason? Are some of these things just illusions?

I got this story to tell you and its true so listen up and listen good.

My father had worked with this guy about a month ago.He was a normal guy.He has a family,kids and wife.But his house.....is....weird.His brother has been to his house and he is so creeped out he never wants to go there again.

The father had picked up his little girls dolls and left the room for 1 minute.No one was in there.When he came back the dolls were onn the ground again.This happened about 5 times in the same hour.

Another thing is that in his backyard are shadows of people,but no one is there.

One times the guy,his brother and a few others were playing cards and it was almost dark outside.Outside the window was a little girl,just walking back and forth,back and forth.She just kept doing it untill they all finnally were gone.

The brother once claimed he saw an Indian man in the mirror,but when he turned around,no one was there.

You can say anything you want about this,but that is some scary shit rright there.That guy wont move out of his house because he thinks its cool.He must be an idiot.

considering how extensive the universe is, and the fact that we as humans will never possibly understand everything in the universe, I dont see why ghosts and the like can't exist

Ghosts and such are real. I've had my own paranormal experiences. Most of them are voices in my living room about two in the morning... I know I'm not dreaming because a lot of the time, I've been wide awake. Once they even kept me up for an hour...

I believe in them because I have "ghostly" expieriences, mainly unexplained phenomena that happens in my house.

Most ghost sighting/paranormal experiences occur around place with a high amount of a certain element in the ground(forget which it is) that can cause minor hallucinations in some people.

I believe that would be quartz or limestone. I take the scientific approach to ghosts, though I believe that they are the souls of the dead.
Such as the three main types of hauntings:

-intelligent: can interact with the living and wants attention for one reason or another, be it help righting a wrong that was commited in the past or just getting a kick out of scaring people

-residual: a haunting that is being played back like a tape that's rewound, then played again; places with high quartz or limestone underground often experience these

I guess I could accept some weird scientific reason for ghosts like certain environmental factors trapping the electricity from the body and playing movements back over or something like this. It's not exactly probably, but I suppose its way out there kinda little long shot plausible.

sPeaking of electricity, some people theorize that the electromagnetic fields of certain areas can mess with the synapses in your brin, making you hallucinate or forge that you randomly stacked all the chairs in your kitchen lol.

Ghosts don't exist because human beings do not have 'spirits'. People who claim they've seen a ghost are either hallucinating, seeing some distorted shape because their eyes are in dark conditions trying to adjust (hell, even I've seen a strange thing or two just walking from my bedroom into the dark living area), or just plain lying.

So I'm NOT the only believer! That argument works on all levels except for the fact that nobody ever reports invisible flying refrigerators crashing into airplanes and sPilling assorted meats and condiments from the sky. Millions of people report ghost sightings every year. Granted, that isn't proof of their existence. It could very well just be proof of mass delusion or that people are gullible idiots. But most of science is theoretical and not conclusively proven anyway. Invisible Flying Refrigerators may sound silly, but if I invented one, flew it around cities, shot off and turned on the cloaking devices to select groups of people, we'd be having the same argument.
