THE thread for hating Libertarians!
THE thread for hating Libertarians!
And no, this is not a thread about what Libertarians hate(ie: black people).
Let's just say that if John Mccain becomes president, the Liberals are screwed for another 4 years. Possibly 8 is things go well.
Liberals are not Libertarians.
They're more fascist than liberal

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects." - Time Enough For Love, by Robert Heinlein
Libertarianism is ridiculous. Although I wouldn't state that I hate the ideology, their political views are absolute nonsense that could not function in our consumer driven economy today. Our own libertarian political party, ACT, is focused on a free market approach and something so silly as a flat tax. I find the centrally planned economy with somewhat of government management is beneficial rather than a threat to our individual rights.
And of course our almighty goal here is not to push Americans away from mindless consumerism but to simply make it less painful so they feel no guilt in splurging away their earnings...

Whilst consumerism isn't an ideal, it's undeniable that our world is becoming more and more materialistic and this isn't an issue whether to push away or promote this, but moreso that it is because of the fact that consumer capitalism is well alive in society today that libertarian political philosophies cannot operate.
Excessive consumerism is a symptom (one of many) of underlying problems with how our society is and how the government is run. Most libertarians realize this and are willing to do what it takes to get the country headed in the right direction. We may not be perfect but at least we should be capable of self preservation, but our current government and lifestyle can't even handle that.
