Shiny Hunting

Just want to know about other people's strategies for catching the famous Shiny pokemon. Yes they really exist, and I have heard normally that the chances are 1/8000 encounters, but I also heard there is a technique called "chaining" Anybody know about this?

There are no 'techniques' or methods to running into shiny pokes (yes, we've all heard of them), it's completely blind luck.

It's annoying too.... I've been playing these games since the originals and I have NEVER come in contact with a shiny.

Blue ditto from Leafgreen, caught it on the way to Mewtwo, the funny thing is, I let out my Charizard, it used Transform obviously, but became a black charizard, it was freaking awesome, and now its all mine.

Well, you could always chain pokemons... I see alot of people chaining and getting shinys...

Basically, it's figthing or catching the same pokemon over and over... There are several methods for chaining, my suggestion for you is to google "Chaining Guide". You can also find some information on youtube.

just watch a couple shiny hunting vids on youtube, they get a shiny by chaining within an hour.
actually I think I am getting good at chaining in Diamond

My most recent shiny is a Rhyhorn caught in FireRed Safari Zone. But i evolved it into a Rhydon and migrated it to diamond and now its a Rhyperior.

Chaining works.

I got three shiny Starly from it.

Chaining does NOT increase the chance of seeing a shiny Pokemon.
It only increases your chance of seeing the same Pokemon several times in a row.
Obviously, since you are seeing hundreds, and possibly thousands, of these Pokemon, the odds say you have a higher possibility of finding that shiny as opposed to another shiny that might appear in the same spot of grass without the use of the PokeRadar.

If you are specifically looking for ONE pokemon to be shiny (i.e.: A shiny ditto), use the PokeRadar to find that Pokemon, and then keep chaining that Pokemon until you find a shiny, or your thumbs fall off.

If you just want a shiny, and don't care what kind it is, then just go about your business as usual, and if you keep playing the game long enough, you WILL find at least one shiny.
