After reading the above article, do you believe that movies made as far back in the fucking 1940's should be censored nowadays because of low-toned racism?
Do kids really read deeply into cartoons? Enough so that hearing a Monkey singing about "I want to be like you" will make them vile racists?

Personally I think it's pretty ridiculous. I grew up on Disney and I assure you I don't believe all black people are jive talking crows. Nor do I believe anyone has the right to complain about it. It's pretty ignorant to expect a movie made in America 1940 when racism was an everyday thing, to not have racism in it. Its even more pathetic that some people would stop supporting and even go as far as hating Disney for something that when it was made was social acceptable.

Wow, that was a pretty intense article... Personally I agree with the comment by Mid East Kid, I don't think that Disney was in any way trying to show whites as being superior, if anything they were including minorities in the movies at a time when that really didn't happen.
The morals of Disney movies were to be good and the best you can be... to take life as it is and to persist even when things are going bad. I do not think that they were in any way trying to be racist and offensive...

And I forgot to add that Disney is a (sometimes too, IMO) tolerable company when it comes to gays and whatnot. They are actually very pro-homo. Unless they had a complete turnaround, it wouldn't make sense for them to be racist.

On the other hand,after reading the article they should be censored because not censoring them would just cause contreversy and more problems to fix.It's so sad...But a whole bunch of racism was going around in those days so of course it's going to some racism in it.Plus,they probally weren't trying to be racist at all.Some people take stuff more seriously than others.

Well that's rather presumptuous. Do you believe if they give into this and censor these racial stereotypes critism will cease? The reason lists such as these appear is because of people's meticulousness in order to pull flaws from Disney. Your argument isn't the most compelling of sorts. I would think the moot of debate is rather out of context to the source given, because the site itself mentions not of any assertion to censor the racism pointed out. Chances are barely anyone would watch The Song of the South in this day and age, so censoring at this point would have no sort of effect. If censorship is a bid to tone down the racism in children today then classic Disney films are not to be targeted. But the question begged - should they censor them? No. For what reason? It doesn't matter anymore. Perhaps it may have had an effect on children of that generation, despite denial. I can't deny that it wouldn't have had any affect. But to censor now would do nothing. Disney may have moulded the little racists we have today [although I do not aver it], well too late. Can't change what's already been done. We can only hope that the generations to come can be so civilised as to end such descrimination in our society.

Censorship in general is terrible. Nobody is forcing anyone to watch/read/heard anything. There should be no reason for censoring things. If said person doesn't approve of the topic, they should just TURN IT OFF. It's really a simple concept.
Obviously we can't have hardcore porn on afternoon television, that's just common sense and not what I'm suggestion.
We as a society need to stop looking to others to filter what we absorb and start taking on the responsibility ourselves. There can't always be someone to hold your hand through the nipple shots and pictures of Muhammad.
