Why do you think they had matchmakers way back centuries ago? Parents don't always have a crystal clear clue about what their child is like, and could very well have a distorted view on whats best for them. A matchmaker has a neutral view on the whole matter. If I'm going to be arranged for marriage, I would insist on the assistance of a professional.

You would rather hire an absolute stranger to decide your fate rather than those who bore you and raised you throughout your entire life? You have such little faith in your own axis of blood that you would rank the guidance of a soi-disant professional above and superior to them?
Yes I would. They have the proof and I certainly don't trust my own blood with that kind of decision. Personal family stuff I don't feel like telling you about.
