What's socialism again?
Property and means of production owned by the community as a whole.
How is that any different from Communism?
Communism is a progression, and more absolute I guess you could say. In Socialism, aspects of Capitalism could be a part of it as long as it is beneficial to society as a whole, and there is still correlation between what your produce and what you receive. Also, Socialism is just an economic concept, while Communism is social and political, with a world-wide, stateless community.
Socialism doesn't sound too too bad. Is it?
Not really. The best economic state is probably Capitalism with a pretty large bit of government intervention and regulation.

You have to take into account the social implications though. By heavily taxing people and having most things owned by the government people get lazy, like in Switzerland. Why bother inventing things or trying for a promotion or starting a business when the government takes 75% of your income (90% at the middle class level)?

Well that isn't what I am proposing in regards to highly regulated capitalism. In fact I would probably have a flat 25-30% income tax across all tax brackets with no clever ways to get deductions. In regards to my original statement, it had nothing to do with economy, but just saying that Capitalism has been responsible for more death and perhaps even humanitarian atrocities than Socialism or Communism(Colonialism - a direct result of Capitalism - being responsible for the Rwandan genocide, for example).
Also last I checked Switzerland had like the best economy in the world.
