the standard iPod has no wireless functions at all, and the zune has many, like syncing wirelessly to your pc, and zune to zune wireless transferring of music.
another thing worth mentioning is the customizable background. it may seem trivial, but people appreciate being able to customize their gadgets these days
1 more thing worth mentioning is that the screen size of the zune is about 20% larger than the iPods at 3.2 inches, but the resolution is the same.

well i have an ipod and my friend has a zune no difference just that zune has radio and you can share pics music ect i perfer ipod. the metal cassing on the bottom of the ipod makes it much stronger so its less of a option for it to break. its your choice but if you drop your ipod there will be less damage to metal then to plastic with the zune
go with the ipod!
