There's a whole lot to do in Cyllage City before we head to the gym (yes, finally!).
Go into the first house you see to get a Whipped Dream
from the man inside. Behind that house is an Ether hidden in the rock.
A guy in the Pokemon Center wants to trade a Luvdisc for
his Steelix.
In the house next to the Pokemon Center, a masseuse can massage your Pokemon to make it more
friendly towards you.
Outside the Pokemon Center, a girl offers to sell you Soda Pop for $300 a pop.
In the house north of the Pokemon Center, select the first and third answers to
the girl's quiz questions to get some Persim Berries.
In Hotel Cyllage north of the city, a person sitting at a table on the first floor
will give you TM44 Rest. The other person will give you TM88 Sleep Talk.
Upstairs, the first person you see will give you a Destiny Knot. Sure enough,
Mr. Bonding is in the last room and, after talking to him, you'll be able to use
Prize Money Power Lv. 1. In the room next door, the girl will give you a Snooze Ribbon.
On a small island in the northwestern part of the city, you can find a hidden
Pearl in a rock. There's also a rock on the beach nearby you can smash
for a Max Ether.
The Bike Shop is next to the Pokemon Center. When you walk in, the owner tells
you you just missed out on being the 10,000th visitor to the shop to get a free
bike, but he'll quiz you to give you a chance at a free bike anyway.
The question is simply whether the bikes come in multiple colors. The answer is "yes".
After answering correctly, he'll give you a free Bicycle. I like to "Register"
the Bicycle to quickly get on and off by pressing "Y". The nice thing
about the Bicycle is that is reaches full speed instantly, whereas the
Roller Blade has to accelerate and is harder to control.
Go up the hill on the eastern side of the city. The Cyllage Gym Leader will come by to give you
HM04 Strength. You won't be able to use the ability until you earn a Gym Badge
here, though. Bike all the way up and go down the side. In the middle part of the
hill, walk a little bit to pick up the X Sp. Atk. Now go back to where
you met the Gym Leader and go south to find the gym. Before you go in, you might
want to pick up the X Defense by follow the small trail down (you'll have
to go around to get back to where you were). Let the gym battles begin!
Cliff Badge
Finally, we've arrived at the second gym on our Pokemon adventures. This gym
specializes in Rock-type Pokemon, so bring your Water, Grass, Steel, and Fighting-type Pokemon.
To get the the Gym Leader at the top of the cliff, you'll have to climb the rockclimbing
walls. It's pretty straightforward.
Leader Grant uses a Lv. 25 Amaura and
a Lv. 25 Tyrunt.
After defeating him, he'll
give you the Cliff Badge and TM39 Rock Tomb. Now Pokemon up to Lv. 40
will obey you and you can use Strength to push huge boulders.
Inside the Connecting Cave up the cycling road from the gym, use Strength
on the boulder to pick up TM40 Aerial Ace. Then, go a little deeper inside,
talk to the Hiker next to the big boulder and he'll give you TM21 Frustration.
Now, onwards to Route 10!
Route 10
North of Cyllage City is the Route 10.
Push the first boulder you see out of the way. Push the second boulder into the
hole in the ground so you can get to the other side to pick up
TM73 Thunder Wave.
Follow the trail north. Here, you'll fine trainers to battle and items to pick up,
include an Iapapa Berry, Mind Plate, X Accuracy, and Thunder Stone.
As you walk deeper into the route, a Team Flare Grunt will challenge you to a battle.
After defeating him, he gets a Holo Cast and runs off. You'll pass by a couple
more Team Flare Grunts before arriving at Geosenge Town.
